Hello all!

Sorry I have not been on here in forever! My schedule has been keeping me on my toes!

In about 3 months, I will be a COLLEGE GRADUATE! Holy cow where did the time go right?! I don’t even know myself as I am sitting here writing this!

This semester, I am carrying 13 credits including an independent study, and am really digging this schedule! I only have class 3 out of the 5 days, with Mondays and Fridays off. The way I see it, your last semester at GCU should be easy because most of your work should already be done. Believe me, once the ‘senior disease’ hits the less credits the better!

Not saying that I am slacking, but when graduation is so close the excitement makes it hard to keep focused!

Life after GCU hopefully includes grad school, and/or a full time job. Either way, I can not wait to see what the near future brings.

Catch ya on the flip side!

Ahhhhh!

In a few short months I will be a college graduate! How exciting and nerve racking all at the same time!

By the way, sorry I haven’t been writing for a while, I have for the most part had my hands tied with school and the like.

This semester has been busy, and semi stressful. I went into this semester thinking it was going to be one of the easier ones I would have seen in my college career, but it was not. At one point, I was ready to scream because one of my classes was stressing me out so much. But I have been working hard, and doing my best to not pull my hair out. I still have my hair at least!

No one ever said it was going to be easy, they just said it was going to be worth it.

And sure enough as this semester winds down, and as I head into my final semester at Georgian Court University, my mind is filled with all the possibilities awaiting me. Am I scared? Scared of some of the unknowns that await me, like not knowing if I will even get into the graduate school of my choice. Or if I will be able to even get a decent job in an economy that is still somewhat crappy.

Yeah I should be scared.

I should be freaked out.

Surprisingly, I am actually OK for the most part. Many of my peers want to go to work, or are unsure of what they want, but me, I seem to be OK.

Maybe its knowing that things always work out in the end.

The future does freak me out, but not always.

Till next time,

K

Hey hey!

Well I cannot believe that in a week I will be heading back to the halls of GCU as a senior! It feels like I just entered my freshmen year, and in less then a year, I will be a college graduate preparing for graduate school…Ahhh!

Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, lets get to the good stuff! Since class begins in a week, that means my summer must end. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much down time due to my internship and my job. However, the experiences, the people I’ve met, and the things I have learned have definitely helped me mature even more so then I was before.

For example, interning at the Living Room taught me more about the music business, and also made me more of a renaissance kid in the sense that I can run around the city with the best of them, and can be quite handy when the time calls for it, aside from skills I gained, and the ones I have naturally.

At the camp this year, I taught art for the first time, so my creativity flourished more, and other people saw how “No-nonsense” I can really be when the time calls for it. Heck, I saw more of it as well!

Then of course, factor in my relationship with God being strengthened, meeting some new friends at church, and having that support system around. I can honestly say my summer was a really great one.

And in case you were not aware, if you are a communications major at GCU, you have to complete a senior internship. The Living Room was my senior internship, and for the summer I got an A. My GPA for the summer is a 4.0. How awesome was that?! If God is not watching over me, then I don’t know who is, because he is surely connecting the dots in my life!

So, as I head back to the classrooms, I head back with anticipation, and joy knowing that the puzzle that is my life is being pieced together, that this summer was a summer of hard work, but it paid off, and knowing the my future holds a lot of exciting things for me.

And to think, if this is my life, imagine what is in store fir everyone else!

Till next time,

Krystal

Hey guys!

Well it is mid-August, and for most college kids across America it means one thing: school starting soon.

And for the incoming freshmen, it means 4 more years of schooling. Could be “Yay” or “Nay” depending on what side you’re on. But if the back to school sales are giving you nightmares, and if you have anxiety about hitting a new set of classrooms with a new cast of characters, fear not! College is the chance to start over, and really get to the future.

With that being said, here are some college survival tips before you get on campus…

* If you are living in the dorms, get to know your hall mates/room mate(s). This will give you the chance to meet some people, and tackle the first year together.

* Make friends in general. They will help to keep you sane.

* GO TO CLASSES! This is the reason WHY you are in school in the first place. College is not all about parties, and social activities, but rather furthering your education.

* If your class schedule permits, try to pick up some extra curricular activities. Don’t just go to class, and go home/back to your room. If possible, try to take any and EVERY activity that is presented to you.

* Work on campus/off campus. Every college kid needs money, especially if you are on your own for the first time.

* AVOID DRINKING! (If possible) This is perhaps the biggest college cliche, but also one of the most real unfortunately. If it is your first time away from home, a lot of the times it can be easy to get caught up in something…it is your responsibility to make sure then that “something” is not the wrong one. And besides, alcohol is empty calories, and if you are drinking every night during the first few weeks away from home, the freshmen 15 is not the ONLY unwanted weight you have to worry about!

* Know where the gym is! Freshmen 15 is not fun. Easy to gain, hard to lose. Enough said.

* Know your morals and set boundaries. Like I mentioned earlier, in the college setting there can be more peer pressure, and if you don’t know who you are, you will fall into some traps. So, like the saying goes, “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.”

I believe I have covered some fundamental principles that will help you to survive and thrive in the college environment. While summer winds down, get wound up for college.

Till next time,

Krystal.

Hey hey folks!

Hope every one’s summer is going well as we are now at the weekend before summer officially begins!

So far, my summer has consisted of my internship, rest, and just catching up on sleep!

I started the Living Room internship back in May, and so far I am one third of the way there for my required hours. Daily tasks for me include updating posters, updating show flyers, working on band listings for the my space, and any other errands that are required of me. My internship ends in early August.

Summer Operation FUN begins in early July and goes for five weeks this summer. We are expected to have a lot a new faces, and the returning faces as well. This year because of the internship, I could not be in charge of a group. so I am teaching art. I really wanted gym, but the gym teacher is coming back.

As of now, the rest of my summer includes attending some conerts, and maybe even a mini vacation in July to Baltimore.

Well thats all for now folks!

xoxo,

Hello dolls!

Well since we are at the end of May almost, know what that means?

Its summer time! And school is out! After a long, and busy semester, I can finally take a break.

My last final of the year was May 17th, and I moved out that Saturday before that. I decided to commute in that Monday to drop off my final, and to take care of some last minute items.

I ended off the semester strong with a 3.52 gpa (I got mainly A’s, more or less A minuses, but still A’s) and am now officially a senior!!! Whoo!

Speaking of seniors, the class of 2010 are now offically GCU alumna, and I am so proud of all the girls I met and became close with in that class. But now, it’s my turn next year!

I began my senior internship Maybe its last week at the Living Room, and must say, its cool, but not what I would have imagined. Perhaps it is because we did just start, and probably over the course of the summer we will pick up some more momentum.

The camp begins (Operation FUN) begins its summer program on July 6th, and I am very excited about that. Our winter program ends this coming Saturday, and we are ending off with a carnival. What a good way to kick off the summer!

Well kiddies, I have to get going!

Catch ya on the flip side!

Hello Darlings!

Well finals week begins this Wednesday, May 12th. Know what that means?

Summer is coming! But before everyone can enjoy vegging out, sleeping late, and hitting the beach, finals must come.

I really don’t have a lot of in class exams, but more or less, take home exams, projects, and paper. Last week, I had two papers due, and this week, I have three due, a presentation, one exam, and one final project. As you can see, I am going to be busy from now until the 17th.

As I look back on this past semester, I got a lot accomplished, and will still be making waves when I head home for the summer. I have an internship at a venue in the city called the Living Room, and will basically performing music related duties and tasks. There will be some writing thrown in there I’m sure, and I even have the chance to learn about engineering. Talk about being a Jack(ie) of all trades!

I am a bit bummed that my internship over in the Office of Marketing and University Communications is over. I not only learned so much from that department as well, but I also enjoyed my job, met some awesome people, and even have more materials for my professional portfolio. That department is awesome!

Well dolls, time to go study!

Catch you on the flip side!

Hello dolls!

It has been a while since I have written last, and allow me to apologize! Once the semester gets going, sometimes you just get caught up!

It is so weird to know we are in April already! We just had our Easter break last week, and this week only had two days of class, so it was a fairly short week. Now, we are in the final stretch of the semester, and summer is around the corner! Yay!

So far, my semester has been full of surprises, blessings, challenges, victories and upsets. (Just like the real world!) But in all, it has all been a learning experience. My internship is going well over in our Office of Marketing and External affairs, and I am going to be so bummed when it ends! I have learned a lot, and know these skills will help me in the future, and the present.

Over break, I applied for about 8-10 internships for the summer. For the Communications major, we don’t have seminars, but rather we put what we garner in the classroom into practice by completing a major internship. In the past, students have worked for MTV, Vogue, radio stations, and even publishing companies. I applied for MTV as well as Time Out New York to name a few. It would be ideal to get one for the summer, that way, I can breeze through senior year.

Speaking of Senior year, my goodness how times flies! A few years ago I was in the same position as many of the underclassmen: excited, and not knowing what to expect from college. Now, about three years later I’m almost in the same boat, but now it is about the future: excited, scared, but positive all the way. It is odd how life works out!

Okie dokie folks!

That is all for now!

-K.

Hello everyone!

It has been such a long time since I had written anything! My schedule has been kind of crazy and busy this year!

So where do I begin? Well I am carrying 18 credits this year (including a three credit internship), and working two jobs on campus. I am also working really hard with my Lion’s Tale staffers, and editorial staff to ensure that each issue is just as good as the last, and to make sure that news is getting delivered in a timely fashion. I am also starting to look for an internship for the summer, so that way my senior year of college can be a breeze.

The seniors now are applying to graduation, and I cant help but think that I will be in their shoes next yr! Its exciting and scary at the same time because I feel like i just came in yesterday, and now I am going to be a senior in a few short months! Ahhh!

The juniors, sophomores, and freshmen are just going through the semester, and taking everything we can in stride. The good thing is that we have Spring Break next week!

But unfortunately, I will be doing alot of work, and papers (must get those A’s)

till next time,

Sorry I have not been writing in a while, break has surely been a break that was much needed!

By the way, I hope everyone has had a good break and is now ready for the new semester next week! Can you believe it is 2010? Its going to be so weird writing that on my papers now!

This semester, I have another 16 credits, including an on campus, media internship. My other classes include: Cultural Anthropology, Video and Field Production, Advanced News Writing and Reporting, Introduction to Psychology, and Christian Tradition Honors. I am looking forward to all of my classes, and do like to learn what I can. College is very much about broadening your horizons, and stepping outside of your comfort zone.

Since I only have a year and a half left in college, it is not too early to start thinking about grad school. In fact, last week I took a trip to the city to go see the CUNY Graduate School for Journalism. And man I am excited! It is a three semester, intense, and competitive program, that prepares their students for life in the world of communications-whether you are taking a career in journalism, going for multimedia, or just really interested in editing and field production, they have it all. And since I am such a Journalism geek, I was also very impressed to know that the building they are in is the old Harold Tribune office. Can you say perfect match?!

In all, my break involved lots of running around the city, seeing some old friends, working, and resting.

Ready for another awesome year!

Peace for now!

Krystal
