Hey hey folks!

Hope every one’s summer is going well as we are now at the weekend before summer officially begins!

So far, my summer has consisted of my internship, rest, and just catching up on sleep!

I started the Living Room internship back in May, and so far I am one third of the way there for my required hours. Daily tasks for me include updating posters, updating show flyers, working on band listings for the my space, and any other errands that are required of me. My internship ends in early August.

Summer Operation FUN begins in early July and goes for five weeks this summer. We are expected to have a lot a new faces, and the returning faces as well. This year because of the internship, I could not be in charge of a group. so I am teaching art. I really wanted gym, but the gym teacher is coming back.

As of now, the rest of my summer includes attending some conerts, and maybe even a mini vacation in July to Baltimore.

Well thats all for now folks!

xoxo,

‘Krystal

Hello Darlings!

Well finals week begins this Wednesday, May 12th. Know what that means?

Summer is coming! But before everyone can enjoy vegging out, sleeping late, and hitting the beach, finals must come.

I really don’t have a lot of in class exams, but more or less, take home exams, projects, and paper. Last week, I had two papers due, and this week, I have three due, a presentation, one exam, and one final project. As you can see, I am going to be busy from now until the 17th.

As I look back on this past semester, I got a lot accomplished, and will still be making waves when I head home for the summer. I have an internship at a venue in the city called the Living Room, and will basically performing music related duties and tasks. There will be some writing thrown in there I’m sure, and I even have the chance to learn about engineering. Talk about being a Jack(ie) of all trades!

I am a bit bummed that my internship over in the Office of Marketing and University Communications is over. I not only learned so much from that department as well, but I also enjoyed my job, met some awesome people, and even have more materials for my professional portfolio. That department is awesome!

Well dolls, time to go study!

Catch you on the flip side!

Hey guys and dolls!

Sorry I have not been writing in a while, break has surely been a break that was much needed!

By the way, I hope everyone has had a good break and is now ready for the new semester next week! Can you believe it is 2010? Its going to be so weird writing that on my papers now!

This semester, I have another 16 credits, including an on campus, media internship. My other classes include: Cultural Anthropology, Video and Field Production, Advanced News Writing and Reporting, Introduction to Psychology, and Christian Tradition Honors. I am looking forward to all of my classes, and do like to learn what I can. College is very much about broadening your horizons, and stepping outside of your comfort zone.

Since I only have a year and a half left in college, it is not too early to start thinking about grad school. In fact, last week I took a trip to the city to go see the CUNY Graduate School for Journalism. And man I am excited! It is a three semester, intense, and competitive program, that prepares their students for life in the world of communications-whether you are taking a career in journalism, going for multimedia, or just really interested in editing and field production, they have it all. And since I am such a Journalism geek, I was also very impressed to know that the building they are in is the old Harold Tribune office. Can you say perfect match?!

In all, my break involved lots of running around the city, seeing some old friends, working, and resting.

Ready for another awesome year!

Peace for now!

Krystal

Hey guys!

Well it is more then half way done with the semester and so far I have not been bored yet! Mainly because I don’t have the time to.

My school work, classes, work, friends and clubs and activitiess are surely keeping me on my toes! I have 10 page paper due the end of this month, a 5 page one due in a week, and other writing assignments due shortly. But who feels pressure?

This weekend I stayed on campus because yesterday was our first Open House of the fall semester. I am unsure of how many prospective students came, but it was a great number even despite the cold and rainy weather.

Then on Friday, we worked on the Lion’s Tale Issue one layout. We use a program called InDesign, and it was pretty cool to see how a newspaper, layout out wise, really comes together. Next weekend I am heading home, but not before our Poetry Club performs on Thursday night.

I am really excited for Christmas in two months, as well as my 21st birthday!

Till Next time,

xoxo

Hey guys!

Well it is already week 6 in the semester, (but who’s counting?)

Its so hard to believe we have already been here for a month already! I feel like I just moved in yesterday!

So far, I have already had tests, quizzes, and a few papers here and there do. And the rest of my commitments have already kind of fallen into place-Service Learning, Lion’s Tale, etc. I guess you could say I was born busy!

This weekend I stayed on campus for two reasons: The Jersey Metro event at Montclair, and Family Day. Jersey Metro is part of Campus Crusade for Christ, and its all the Campus Crusade groups in all the NJ universities meeting at Montclair for a night of worship music, fun, and a brief message. I got involved with Court Cru-Georgian Court’s Campus Crusade for Christ group, last semester after being invited to Bible Study by one of my other friends, and fellow poets. I have been going ever since. Since I am Christian, this is the perfect group for me to be apart of on campus.

Family Day was cool because it was the first time the Poetry Corner had a table since our beginning in the spring of 2008. We came up with an activity that was a total hit with the crowd! “Sponge and Splat” was an activity where the kids came and painted t-shirts with sponges, their hands, and anything we had of availability to them. I don’t mean to brag, but our club cleaned house!

Despite being exhausted, this weekend was awesome, and I look forward to many more like this!

Till Next Time!

Krystal

Hello dolls and some guys!

Well it is hard to believe summer is just about over!

I am somewhat bummed that my summer is done, but again, we must keep the ball rolling, and get back into the swing of things eventually.

I moved into my new dorm room in st. Catherine’s Hall today. St. Cats are Georgian Courts newest residence halls, and they are the suites and singles. The closet space is pretty sweet, and kind of gives the feel of having your own apartment on campus. The suites have their own kitchen area, while the singles you share only the bathroom with one other person. These dorms are pretty much on the lap of luxury. The other dorms are nice, but these are NICE!

Today was also the day the Freshmen in the class of 2013 moved in. I remember two years ago the feelings of excitement, and fear were rushing through my veins. The one piece of advice I can give to the newest members of the GCU community is this: Work hard!!! You have made it this far, and DO NOT quit now! It will be worth it in 4 yrs when you all receive your degrees at Graduation.

Since it is move in weekend, the big tradition GCU has is the welcome back BBQ. This year, we are having a Carnival, and dinner in the Dining Hall. It is a great way to mix and mingle the freshmen with all the other upper classes.

Then on Monday, the semester really kicks into high gear with the first day of class. We have Labor day weekend coming up soon, so that will be a welcome break to being in class for almost two weeks.

Til next time kiddies,

Catch ya on the Study Side!

Krystal.

Well it is official: I can now call myself a Junior in College!

My finals ended May 7th, and now I have this summer to rest and gear up for the next, and last two years in my college career. Its going to be more work, internships, and a whole lot more stuff in order to get the degree that I am working my tail off for! Only 2 more years to go! Yay!

On another note: My summer plans are going to involve work, fun and a combinaton of work and fun!

I’m working at a camp for the mentally disabled, and this is my 5th year doing so. I began as a high school student doing volunteer work for Catholic Charities Operation FUN programs for the mentally disabled, and I joined the staff last summer, and enjoy every minute of it. These kids have taught me a lot, and I could spend a whole day about it, but that is for another time.

As of now, I can finally breathe, and enjoy home!

Catch ya on the flip side guys!

It is very safe to say I am a “Busy bee” to the extreme, even on the weekends!

This weekend was our Presidential Scholars Luncheon at Georgian Court where accepted and incoming students came and were honored for their achievements in their high school careers up until now. We had over 100 girls and their familes come check out our campus, our bookstore, attend information sessions, and they even got the chance to join us for lunch and have their photos taken with Sister Rosemary Jefferies, the President of Georgian Court University.

Then. after the luncheon, several of my friends and I went to the historic Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ to check out my friends in The Non Exisent Year play for the Break contest Fianls. The Break Contest is huge for unsigned bands in NJ to earn a spot on the Bamboozle Festival and earn the exposure many of them have been working so hard to gain. Needless to say, TNEY owned the stage, and earned a spot on the Festival. (Yay)!

Sunday was a huge day for 39 girls in the class of 2011 because it was our Phi Eta Sigma honors induction. We held it in the Dorothy Marrion University Chapel, and our parents were able to come out and support us. In order to get into Phi Eta Sigma, the candidates must have had a 3.5 gpa their first semster as a freshmen, or 3.5 overall at the end of their freshmen year. You have to pay a 50 dollar one time fee, and once you do, you are in it for life.

I was thrilled becasue my mom, sister, and God-parents all came up and we just enjoyed the day, and went out to eat afterwards. When I got back, it was back to reality, and the hw that I needed to complete.

With only three weeks left in the semester, it is now crunch time as papers, projects, and finals all need to be competed in a timely fashion.

Happy Easter everyone!!!

Let me start off by saying I hope everyone has a good Easter Sunday, and remembers the RE AL reason why we celebrate this great day! It is not about the Easter bunny, or the fact that Spring is really underway, but rather it is the celebration of what Jesus did on the Cross for everyone around the world!

Needless to say, I am indeed home now, and my Easter break has been quite fun so far. Yesterday, I got to see some of my friends that I had not seen in awhile as we all got together in the city to celebrate my friend Edith’s 19th birthday! Even though there were some of her friends outside of our CMCA clique that I had not met before, it was great to be in good company, and to even remember some of the great times we had during our high school years. Plus, it was a time I needed to laugh, and what better way then to head to the movies with your friends-and a funny movie at that!

Then, today at work, we had a “Half Easter Party” because we had a lot of kids M.I.A.due to the holiday weekend, and the icky, yucky, rainy weather outside. My group only had 7 kids, but since today I took on one of my other co-workers kids, we had 8 total. We the staff, were also given some insight into what is happening with the summer program, and so far there are some big, and positive changes ahead of us.

And of course, what really made my day nice was the fact that I got a really sweet, and awesome ”Thank you” voicemail from the lead singer of the band The Non Existent Year, for the article I wrote on them for our school paper, The Lion’s Tale.

Although break ends on Tuesday, I am going back with some great memories, and a refreshed outlook to end off the semester with a bang!
